Misc.

"Special needs programs and schools: a primer" was written by Valle Dwight published by GreatSchools. This article talks about the benefits of a special needs school. The special needs schools is devoted strictly to students with special needs. Parents wouldn't have to worry about the funds and the learning environment of public schools. In this special needs school all the teachers are trained to work with special needs students. These schools often focus on one disability and can be either day schools or residential.

I like this article because it has both positive and negative aspects which allow me to argue it in any way that I choose. In the section about what critics say it states that it is found that students that interact with students of disabilities or without disabilities are better for both sides.

Journal

"NCLB: A Study of Its Effect on Rural Schools--School Administrators Rate Service Options for Students with Disabilities" written by Lynn Hodge and Bernita Krumm for Rural Special Education Quarterly in 2009. In this journal there is a study being done on rural schools and the educators impact on teaching students with disabilities. They conduct this experiment in 7 different states in the west. They are trying to determine how effective the teachers are in rural areas even though they don't have as high of a degree than others even though there is a better ratio and it becomes more about the student than the numbers.

I chose this journal article because I like the idea of using a case study and facts to support my paper and claims. There are charts and data collected and displayed in this article to help support my reasons, whatever they may be. I will definitely try to include this information somehow in my essay.
